When you were a child, do you remember how hard it was for you to tell time on a dial-face clock?   I do.   It's not an easy thing for a child to learn. Kids who have just learned their numbers suddenly have to count by "5s" and divide by 4, while remembering numbers they can't even see!

Now you can help your kids succeed at learning to tell analog time!

IS IT STILL IMPORTANT?

Although digital clocks are everywhere these days, learning to read analog time is still important. Traditional clocks remain in many public places, most schools teach and test the proficiency, and learning it helps the brain develop the important skills of spatial relationships and estimating; abilities which will be called upon throughout life.

WHO WILL IT HELP?

Just hanging the "Learn Time, Teach Time"™ Clock in your house will help children 3 - 8 to see and understand the concepts behind analog time because it makes the concepts visible.  Children with learning disabilities also find it easier to tell time when they can see all of the numbers.

IS IT EASY TO TEACH?

Yes.   A simple Teaching Booklet, which comes with your clock, gives Moms & Dads an outline of 5 basic skills which need to be mastered in order for your child to learn to read time.  For kids who like to “play school”, these can be broken up into ‘mini-lessons’ based on the child’s age and attention span.  If your child is one who has trouble sitting still, these concepts can be introduced through everyday conversations and tasks, getting your child ready for telling time without them even realizing they are learning. Parents are always a child’s “first teachers”, everything you say and do with them is a lesson.  Therefore, look for “teachable moments” in every day life. And make it fun!

WHY I CREATED THIS CLOCK

I came up with this teaching concept over twenty years ago, when my boys were little and struggling to learn analog time (they are now 20 and 24).

Once I put together an early version of my current clock, my boys caught on quickly. Educators I’ve consulted agree that other children can benefit too, so I have polished my original idea and combined it with my love of whimsical patterns and bright colors. I construct and embellish each clock face by hand.   I hope you enjoy yours.
